Séverine was born on the 10th of October 1948 in Paris.  Even as a child, she had already a passion for singing.

Aged 14, she sung in a band called Les Murators.
In 1967, the VOGUE company offered her to record a song.

Soon after, a single was released under the artist name of "Céline".  The song "Tu dis Septembre" was a French cover of an Harry Belafonte hit. Thanks to the LP, Jean Nohain discovered Céline's talent. He hired the young singer for a summer tour to introduce her to the French audience.

In 1968, under the name of Robie Lorr et les Murators, Céline and her band played in the very hype parisian club: the Golf Drouot.
The song they did: "Goldfinger" was such a big success that they were hired to play every Saturday.
Aged only 20 years, Robbie Lorr was doing covers of songs by the likes of Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand and other worldwide stars...

One day, she met the famous lyric writer, Georges Aber, who offered a contract to the young singer.
From Céline, to Robbie Lorr, then to Severine, the young woman changed her haircut from long dark hair to short blond hair.
George Aber made her sign with Philips and right after in 1969, her first single was released.

Her first big hit was the song from the soundtrack of the movie "Le Passage de la Pluie" (Rider On the Rain)  in 1970.
The song was a success in  France, but also in Japan where it stayed number 1 during several weeks. The composer of the song was Francis Lai. The next single "Sympathie" was also composed by Francis Lai and was a big hit. This second success allowed Séverine to become one of the best French female singer of that time.

In 1971, George Aber asked his protégée if she would like to enter the Monaco song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Several songs were proposed to the jury including "Manège". At the very last minute, Jean-Pierre Bourtayre and Yves Dessca wrote the song "Un banc, un arbre, une rue" for which the selection committee choose Séverine.
In the evening of the 3rd of April 1971, Séverine became the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Dublin with 128 points ."Un banc, un arbre, une rue" became a worldwide hit. The song was translated in German, English and Italian, and millions of singles were sold all over the world. A few weeks after, Séverine was famous and invited in all the European countries, Japan and South America.

In France, she begun a massive tour with the biggest artists: Joe Dassin, Sacha Distel, Michel Sardou...

The following year, 1972, was very rich for Séverine: In February, she sung the song "Là où l'Amour s'en va" by Michael Jourdan at the Chili Viña del Mar Festival, representing France. One month later, she achieved what most singers are dreaming of: she sung at the Paris Olympia, the venue about which Edith Piaf said that you are not a star before singing there...

In 1973, she covered two of the Eurovision song contest hits on a single: Cliff Richard's "Power to all are friends" became "Il Faut Chanter la Vie" and the song "Autour de Nous" by Ilanit.

From there, Séverine concentrated on her German career. Since 1971, all her albums were big successes in Germany. She became a regular of the ZDF "Hit parade" TV shows and the most famous French artist over there with songs like:  "Ja, der Eiffelturm", "Olala l'amour", "Der Duft von Paris"et "Monsieur le Général"...

In May of 1972, she appeared, for the first time on the TV show "Ein Kessel Buntes".
The success of that Berlin appearance was so great that she became also a star in East Germany. The show was followed by thousands of TV viewers and Séverine became a regular guest to the biggest TV shows and concerts.

On the 22nd of July 1975, Séverine became a mother. To spend more time with her child Anthony, she put a hold on her singing career, doing only some more TV appearances.

Séverine started her come-back during the summer of 1981.

Jack White brought Séverine to a studio to record the German cover of the Goombay Dance Band's song "Seven Tears".
The single was a success and Séverine started promoting to the radios and going back to the ZDF "Hit parade" TV shows.

After another 3 year break, Séverine worked with the composer, writer and producer, Peter Door. Several albums were released with great success once again.

In November 1999, Yvon Chateigner released a compilation album gathering Séverine's French hits. On the 18th

of December 2000, after a break of 28 years, she was back on the stage of La Cigale in Paris.
The concert was a  big success and proved that the fans didn't forget their idol.

In 2002, the concert was released as double CD called "Séverine - Retour à Paris".
After that show, she became a singing teacher in a Parisian music academy until 2011.
